What’s your favorite candy?
Lollypop is a type of sugar candy that consists of hard candy mounted on a stick. It is a sweet consisting of a hard disc or ball of a sugary substance on the end of a stick.It is meant for sucking or licking. Some people suggests that its name comes from how it is consumed. The term lolly means tongue and pop means slap. One rolls their tongue over the candy and then slap his tongue in the the inside his lips probably because of the pleasure found in it’s sweetness.
How it became my favorite candy I don’t know, but anytime I come across them, I will buy them. I enjoy them most when walking or when sitted in a sunny place.
A friend of mine one day bought me lollipop as we were coming from school one evening, and since then, I have always liked them, 10years later.
The history of lollipop can be traced back in mid ages where nobility could eat boiled sugar with aids of sticks which they refered to as handles.
Lollipops are simply made of sugar and corn syrup that are heated together at night temperatures of over 150o and then allowed to crystallize slowly in a chemical process.
The term lollipop is associated with George Smith who started making large hard candies mounted in a stick in 1908 and trademarked the name Lollipop in 1931.
Lollipop candies have other names like sticky-pops,sucker and lolly. Lollipops comes with all kind of flavors, color and shape. Lollipops can come in pineapple, banana, orange, strawberry flavors etc.
Some lollipops can be used to carry medicine for increasing appetites. Sometimes lollipops are used as gifts to reward customers in businesses and people enjoy them a lot, just like I do. My most favorite ones are the one with a ball shape.
