  • The French Revolution and the lessons learnt

What historical event fascinates you the most?

French revolution happened at the beginning of 1978 leading to overthrowing of the French Monarchy. King Louis XVI was executed . The executed King was ruthless and terrorized people because he was a dictator.

The reason I find this historical event fascinating is because it is described as the beginning of republic of France, brought about ideas of Democratic government and equality and led to establishment of the French Motto that they use today.

From this historical narration I realize that big economies that we admire and from whom we observe excellence were not that way initially. It shows that people does very well after passing periods of pain. Painful moments shapes us. This aligns with the old sayings, “greatness is born in adversity”. We’re it not for the dictatorship of the kings, they would not have had the desire to have freedom and grow. It shows what droves their philosophy and what caused them to shape their national character. It asserts that we are usually shaped for better by pain as opposed to good moments. There is an English saying that sayings; “Hard times  create strong men, strong men creates good times , good times create weak men and weak men create hard times”.

It is people that passed though very difficult moments that are doing well in life. Another example is England. The great people you admire has painful history. The black Death pandemic in England swept a third of it’s population in 13th century. In 15th century, England faced tyranny and persecution by their leaders. This gives me hope that even when we are fighting bad leadership in our country and thy reiterate by oppressing us, one day we will overcome and have freedom to shape our destiny and those of our children to the format that will make us live comfortably there after.
