Speeding cars

Speeding cars

What makes you nervous?

I have never understood why we need to move that fast in most of the time, but whenever am in a very fast moving car and am not the driver, it really makes me nervous.

I always wonder if a speeding driver really have a hint of the long time effect if peradventure he makes any mistakes. That a few seconds of stupidity can have long long term effect like life time disability, orphanage to children whose parent’s life is halted suddenly, making the car we cherish unroad worthy, traumas to survivors etc.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), road traffic injuries caused an estimated 1.35 million deaths worldwide in 2016.Low-income countries now have the highest annual road traffic fatality rates, at 24.1 per 100,000, while the rate in high-income countries is lowest, at 9.2 per 100,000.(Wikipedia, accessed 22/04/2024)

Countries with the most of accidents per year by 2019:

United States 1,949,000
Germany 300,143
Turkey 174,896
Italy 172,183
United Kingdom 123,212
Canada 105,791
Spain 104,080
France 56,006

The United States has more than four times the number of car accidents of any other country in the world. China had the eighth-highest number of motor vehicle accidents in the world in 2018. It reported approximately 212,000 accidents.

Considering the devastating long term effect of road carnage, i think no car manufactured should exceed 80 km/hr.

Thinking about all this, I wonder if we should be having fast moving vehicles in the dry land, that is why it makes me so nervous.
